Michael E. Miller, 61, of Ohio Township, Pa., formerly of Youngstown, died on Sunday, Oct. 25. He was born March 27, 1948 in Youngstown, the son of Sally and the late Harold Miller. 

Michael was the beloved husband of Suzanne Garcia Miller, father of Sean (Nakia) Miller of Garfield Heights, with Jennifer Cousin Miller, to whom he was previously married. He also leaves a brother, Kenneth Miller of Youngstown.

Miller earned a bachelor of arts degree from Youngstown State University and attended the University of Detroit. His diverse professional career included teaching seventh grade earth science at Science Hill Junior High School in Youngstown, in sales and sales management at IBM, and owning and operating ComputerLand Stores in Boardman, Niles and Hermitage, Pa. He developed marketing software, and provided management and information technology consulting for small service and manufacturing businesses.

Miller never stopped learning. He especially loved studying military history. He also believed in service to his community, doing everything from coaching soccer, participating in the Knights of St. Peter Claver and awarding scholarships with the Bair Foundation.

Although his death was untimely, his perseverance in overcoming paralysis after a series of strokes in July of 2000 was an inspiration to many who were going through their own hardships. His love for family and friends will be treasured by those he leaves behind. 

Services were held on Friday, Oct. 30 at Schellhaas Funeral Home in West View, Pa. Friends may pay tribute at
