Poland boys soccer preps for tournament play

The Poland boys varsity soccer team finished out their regular season during the week of Oct. 12, ending with a 14-0-2 record. Poland posted wins against Canfield and JFK and a tie against the Howland Tigers.

On Oct. 13, the Poland soccer team defeated the Canfield Cardinals, 2-0.  Charles Lamping and Taylor Malaniak had goals with Matt Mrozek adding an assist. Cooper Kostelic had seven saves for the Bulldogs, and Mike Thomas has 12 saves for the Cardinals. Poland outshot Canfield, 14-7. 

On Oct. 15th, the Bulldogs defeated JFK, 6-1. Malaniak had three goals for Poland, and additional goals were added by Lamping, Mrozek, and Spencer Booth. Mrozek had two assists for Poland, and Drew Wagner had one assist.  The JFK goal was scored by Jeff Kroyst. Kostelic and Adam Robertson combined for three saves for Poland. Poland outshot JFK, 17-4.

On Oct. 17, Poland ended their regular season at Howland with a 1-1 tie. Malaniak had the goal for Poland. Cameron Francis had the goal for Howland.  Poland outshot Howland, 6-3. Kostelic has two saves for Poland, and Robert Daniels has five for the Tigers.

Poland will begin their tournament play on Saturday at home against Salem at 7 p.m.

The junior varsity posted a tie and a win during the same period after they defeated Canfield 2-0 and ended in a two-all game with Howland.
