Boardman’s Rob Boyd is at it again as he takes the ball up the middle for a first down during the second quarter. The trenched field did not slow down Boyd or his teammates as they went on to beat Hoover, 16-7. Having toppled one of the top teams in the division, the Spartans have become a force to be reckoned with in the Federal league.
Boardman’s defense was the key to the victory as they caused five turnovers. Interior lineman senior Noah Patoray and linebacker Ryan Phillis are set as they wait for the play to begin. Boardman handed Hoover their second loss as the Spartans went onto win, 16-7.
A bobbled shotgun snap from the Hoover quarterback almost caused a sixth turnover as Boardman’s Kevin Johnson is all over him. Johnson earned Player of the Week honors for his performance Friday night, Oct. 2.
Boardman defensive end Kevin Johnson wasted no time stepping in front of a Hoover receiver to intercept a pass. The Spartans won, 16-7.
A quick pass from quarterback Ryan Boyd to six-foot, five-inch Chase Hammond proves his danger to the opponent anytime the ball is in his hands. Hammond gains a large amount of real estate after the catch during the Boardman-Hoover game. The Spartans sealed the victory, 16-7.
