Phillipses celebrate 60 years of marriage

Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Phillips Jr. of Austintown joyously observed their 60th wedding anniversary Sept. 3.


On that date in 1949, Mr. Phillips and the former Agnes Patzak were united in marriage at St. Nicholas Byzantine Church in Campbell.


Before retiring in 1980, Mr. Phillips was a planning supervisor at U.S. Steel in Youngstown. He also served in the United States Coast Guard for two years. His wife was a homemaker.


Mr. and Mrs. Phillips have been members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for many years, and Agnes was involved in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Altar and Rosary Society.


Their children are Edward (Diane) Phillips of Youngstown, Richard A. Phillips of Parma and Paula (Ilario) Pace of Youngstown. They have two grandsons, Antonio and Gino.
