Dr. and Mrs. Pallante were the guests of honor at a dinner party at the Youngstown Club on Saturday, Aug. 15 hosted by their children: John (Fran), Maureen Kepley (Locke) and William (Judith), all of Canfield, and Dr. Martin (Dr. Elizabeth) of Muskegon, Mich. and their families. Grandchildren include Danielle and Sean Pallante; Anthony, Lauren and Rachel Kepley; Jack and Luke Pallante; and Elizabeth, Kathleen and Stephen Pallante. Well-wishers included more than 100 friends and family from as far away as Long Island, N.Y., Chicago, and Venice, Fla.
Mrs. Pallante, the former Sally Catherine Murphy, a leader in the Mahoning Valley Irish community, was the founder and first co-director of the Mahoning Valley Ulster Project, and the founder of the Irish-American Archival Society and the Gathering of the Irish Clans, as well as the coordinator of the Juniors Division of the LAOH. Mrs. Pallante, the lead author of "The Irish in Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley," was the 1988 YWCA Religious Woman of the Year and the 1999 LAOH Irish Woman of the year. She is a charter member of the Ursuline High School Wall of Fame.
Dr. Pallante, the retired president of Roehlen Industries and creator of the dynamic balanced scorecard management system, is a strategic planning and management specialist and the chairman of Pallante Management Consulting. He is a founding member of the Ireland Chamber of Commerce in the United States and the Ursuline High School Athletic Hall of Fame. An adjunct professor of communications and international marketing at YSU, he served as the chairman of the board of Albert Schweitzer's Leadership for Life and Data Technology Corporation as well as being a member of the President's Advisory Board of Hodges University.
The Pallantes, loyal Notre Dame fans, attend all home football games and are members of the university's Sorin Society and Badin Guild. Dr. and Mrs. Pallante, who began their anniversary celebration in early August with a trip to Las Vegas, Yosemite National Park and the California wine country, concluded festivities by attending the 2010 Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Ga., a gift from their children and grandchildren.
