The Town Crier
A Mass of Christian Burial was held July 18 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, with the Rev. Msgr. John H. DeMarinis celebrating for his longtime and close friend, Robert G. “Bob” Camardo Sr., who passed away the morning of July 14.

Bob was born Sept. 17, 1936 in Youngstown, the son of George and Rose (Yannarella) Camardo. Bob was still barbering after 53 years at his Esquire Barber Shop in Liberty. He was a successful businessman, who owned and operated a chain of hair salons and various commercial properties.

He was a member of St. Michael Parish in Canfield, graduated from East High School in 1955, and attended Barber College in Akron. He was a proud supporter of Youngstown State University, where his three children graduated. Bob cherished his time with his family, especially vacationing with them at his homes in Fort Myers, Fla. and at Saybrook on Lake Erie. He was very proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed playing the game of bocce at St. Anthony’s, the Pacentrano and Arco Clubs, where he also sponsored teams.

Besides his wife, the former Mary Ann D’Antonio, whom he married Sept. 8, 1956, he will be sadly missed by his three children, Bob Jr. (Lisa) Camardo of Hubbard, Rick (Cindy) Camardo of Canfield and Kim (Darren) Lydic of Canfield; five grandchildren whom he adored, Nikki, Allie and Ryan Camardo, and Brendon and Kirsten Lydic; his sister, Phyllis (Ralph) Camardo-DeMain of Elkgrove, Calif.; a niece, Georgene (Jeff) Farrar; and three nephews, Skip (Debbie) DeMain, Greg (Mindy) DeMain and Brian (Mary) DeMain.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bob’s memory to the Robert George Camardo Sr. Scholarship Fund that will be established at Youngstown State University.
