Middle-aged beauty redefined
January 6, 2011 - Kathleen Palumbo
I recently picked up a magazine with the “celebrities without makeup,” headline and admit to taking a peek. What an eye-opener to our youth who see nothing but perfection to realize that sans plastic surgery, most celebrities are just your run of the mill you and me.
And as for those pesky “Oh my God, when did those appear moments…try my approach.
Noticing slight crow’s feet for the first time? Think back…possibly to your sun-worshiping teenager days of yore when bikinis, best friends, and boys were top priority. Skin care savvy? Not back then - but oh, the memories!
Wrinkles as a long-term effect of sleep deprivation. Having been blessed with two children, I’m all too aware of the eight-hour work day following two hours of uninterrupted sleep. Would I trade it for anything else in the world? Not a chance.
Laugh lines. Need I say more?
Under eye circles. While the AMA may suggest a solid eight hours of sleep per night, any member of the AMA with teenagers knows better. Show me a parent with a teenager out with friends for the night, and I’ll show you a parent with under eye circles the next day. This too shall pass.
There you have it…Kathy’s guide to skimming over those moments when you are almost certain the person in the mirror simply HAS to be someone else!
