Caution for dog day afternoons
July 26, 2010 - Kathleen Palumbo
My fellow Northeastern Ohioans, you must admit that despite previous summers where we beckoned the sun daily and weekend forecasts tended to call for rain showers, rain squalls and the occasional horizontal gusting rain, we’ve been fortunate. The sun has become a nearly constant companion, along with searing temperatures affording us the opportunity for plenty of fun in the sun.
Which brings me to my blog subject. As an avid dog lover and owner, I felt compelled to offer up a reminder to please…please remember the summertime needs of your man’s or woman’s best friend.
When in doubt, simply put yourself in their paws so to speak and ask yourself…
-Would you don a fur jacket and sit in your yard enjoying the sun?
-How many times a day do you find yourself reaching for your water bottle? And what if it weren’t there?
-Can you even fathom sitting in your parked car, with the air off and the windows down only slightly?
-If your health, comfort and well-being were completely out of your control, who would you trust to care for you?
Were they capable, I’m sure you could leave it to them.
