Can you hear me now?
June 29, 2010 - Kathleen Palumbo
When was the last time you misplaced your cell phone? Last month…last week…ten minutes ago? For me, it’s a frequent occurrence, and it tends to be where we lose and find them that provides entertainment.
Following a recent stop at my local grocery store, (whose staff, by the way, was quite helpful during my frantic search), I realized I no longer had my phone, on which I’d been chatting when I entered the store.
As the friendly staff called my phone and I hopefully scoured the store for the sound of “Sweet Home Alabama,” retracing my steps was proving fruitless (and I was in a grocery store), ha!
I resorted to praying. I know what you’re thinking...Surely He and his "assistants" have more pressing matters to tend to…right? I agree, but what can I say, I was desperate!
It was during one final mental walk through the store that I recalled a stop at the freezer section to return something…I made my way to the exact spot and there it was…frosty, but no worse for the wear.
Perhaps it was fate or karma. Perhaps the patron saint of lost items has a twisted sense of humor, or perhaps I’m developing dysfunctional disorganization syndrome – it doesn’t really matter. What matters is that it’s back and it works.
Not unlike that famous watch brand of years ago that could “take a licking and keep on ticking,” I guess you could say my phone, is comparably invincible…”Freeze it for a while, and it’s still willing to dial.”
