How full is your glass?

March 23, 2010 - Kathleen Palumbo
I’m a glass is half full kinda girl.  Take today for instance.  A transportation issue arose when my trusty vehicle, affectionately dubbed “Miss Violet,” needed to pay a visit to the friendly neighborhood “auto spa,” ("Miss V" doesn’t like the word repair).
As luck would have it, my son was available as my personal chauffer du jour.  With the schedules we keep, time together is precious, so a few hours of just kicking around, chatting, and catching up was a nice change of pace.
Call it divine retribution, but in a scene reminiscent of a few years back, and much to his chagrin, I was in complete control of the tunes. I will admit to a pitiful habit of finding a favorite song on cd, and playing it over…and over…and…well, you get the picture.
A quick lunch, a few short errands, and one song later (as I said, it was a good one), “Miss Violet” was ready to return, no worse for the wear. On days like these, it’s nice to remember that sometimes the little detours in our day are more enjoyable than the road we planned.
My son’s final words…”It’s time for you to be in your own car.”
It’s ok – he was kidding…I’m sure of it.
