How about tomorrow?
December 29, 2011 - Kathleen Palumbo
As 2011 comes to a close and thoughts of sugarplums are replaced with those of ruthless New Year’s resolutions, I urge you to proceed with caution.
I’m fairly sure no statistics exist, but if they did, I’d be willing to bet that 99.9% of those resolutions are followed by inevitable slip-ups, disappointment, and failure.
Don’t get me wrong, this “glass is half full” kinda girl believes making positive changes in your life is a great idea…just not on the first day of a new year. I mean, why January first, when you can better your appearance, your relationships, your outlook, your career, heck, your whole life, any day of the week if you’re so inclined.
Think about it…the occasional lapse in dedication is much less devastating on the average Monday, when Tuesday brings a new beginning, than on three days after New Year’s when you’re left feeling like you’ve dropped the ball (no pun intended) for the entire year.
My proposal for 2012…go ahead and resolve to make all the life-enhancements you like – on any given day of any random week of any month of the entire year. Should you screw up…that’s the beauty of it – tomorrow’s another day.
Here’s wishing you and yours a wonderfully happy, guilt-free New Year.
